EMISSION SPECTROSCOPY INVESTIGATIONS OF PARTIALLY IONIZED GASES.

Abstract

Emission spectra were investigated in cases of partially ionized plasmas obtained under conditions of (1) low pressure - low current discharge, and of (2) high pressure - high current discharge. For plasmas of type (1) it was possible to show the importance of atomic recombination and molecular dissociation, of molecular excitation by metastable atoms, etc.; investigations of type (2) plasmas included radiative recombination, the process of Stark effect broadening, etc.
