HEAT TRANSFER IN A TRANSVERSE HOMOGENEOUS MAGNETIC FIELD,

Abstract

The study considers the transfer of heat in the steady laminar motion of an incompressible electrically conductive liquid to the isothermal walls of a channel formed by parallel plates. Demonstration is made of the influence of a transverse homogeneous magnetic field on heat transfer for the case of a constant medium flow rate and a constant pressure difference. It is ascertained that there is a substantial relationship between the temperature of the liquid flow and the heat-transfer Nusselt number with respect to the magnitude of the external magnetic field and the electrical conductivity of the channel walls.
