VISCERAL AFFERENT ACTIVITY EFFECTS ON BRAIN STEM RETICULAR FORMATION.

Abstract

The main themes of the present investigations concern: Electrophysiological studies of the somatic and the vegetative effects of baroceptive inputs. The following points were investigated: Electroneurogram of the Aortic Nerves and nature of the fibers involved in the sleep-inducing effects. Evolution of baroceptive discharges during the cardiac cycle. Vagal efferent discharges in response to artificial (electrical stimulation) or natural inputs through the Aortic Nerve. Central projections of baroceptive afferents in the region of Nucleus Fasciculus Solitarius and Dorsal Vagal Nucleus. (Author)
