Abstract
The booklet was developed for the fire safety field to assure a steady flow of capable personnel, attract qualified engineers and program managers into a long-term career program, and retain competent employees by providing developmental opportunities commensurate with abilities and interest. In addition to an outline of the essential elements of a training agreement, a guide position description, training program outline, sample duties and suggested assignments, and sources of help are included. Fire safety program managers can use this document for reference in their discussions with their agency's personnel managers.
