A PROPOSED SPECIFICATION FOR AUDIOMETERS.

Abstract

The specification covers electroacoustic devices designed to determine the hearing acuity of individuals, either for speech or for pure tones. Acuity is stated in terms of comparison standards experimentally determined on normal ears. The purpose of this specification is to ensure that tests of the threshold of hearing, whether for pure tones or speech sounds, on a particular ear of a given individual on different audiometers of a particular type complying with the specifications, shall give substantially the same results under comparable conditions, and that the results obtained shall represent a true comparison between the threshold of hearing of the individual and the normal threshold of hearing.
