A PHOTOMETRIC SURVEY OF THE LIGHTING INSTALLATION OF THE SQUADRON READY ROOM NO. L, U.S.S. WASP (CVA-18).

Abstract

As the result of this survey it was found that the red lighting installation of Squadron Ready Room No. 1 was not altogether satisfactory. Light distribution throughout the room was fair and brightness gradients on the chalkboards were acceptable. Some brightness levels were below the range recommended by this laboratory for these conditions (in general, 2.0 fL to 0.5 fL). The red lacquer hand-dipped domes were unacceptable in spectral quality. The louvre devices supplied with the RLM reflectors were of adjustment and produced glare sources for occupants of the seats. The teletype was not available for inspection. The white lighting was much worse than the red, exhibiting high contrasts, very steep brightness gradients and considerable glare.
