EFFECTS OF ADHESIVE FORMULATION AND AGE ON STRENGTH OF BONDED BUTT JOINTS.

Abstract

Effects of formulation and age of adhesive on joint strength were studied on butt joints of slash pine bonded with an epoxy-resin adhesive. The rigid form of adhesive was changed to a ductile one by adding an elastomer which increased stength, efficiency, and quality of bonded joints. Increased adhesive age reduced joint strength for both rigid and ductile forms. (Author)
