EVOLUTION OF FINITE AUTOMATA FOR PREDICTION.

Abstract

This is the final report of the mathematical investigation conducted under Contract No. AF30(602)-4296 to determine classes of environments which are amenable to representation by finite-state functions, to classify the corresponding finite-state functions and to study the structure of finite-state machines which generate these functions. The results form the basis for improvement of the algorithms for evolving finite-state machines capable of predicting an environment or of representing a transformation between environments with respect to a given goal.
