Light Observation Helicopter Avionics Package (LOHAP). Value Engineering Quarterly Report.

Abstract

The report highlights accomplishments, future plans, problems experienced and anticipated, and plans for resolution of problems, if any. The report provides a means of measuring Sylvania's adherences to and compliance with the Sylvania Value Engineering Design Plans, as submitted to ECOM. The V.E. program effort applied by EMI-Cossor, subcontractor for the ADF Set AN/ARN-89, was monitored and evaluated during August. Sylvania V.E. Quarterly Report No. 5 was approved by ECOM and distributed per the ECOM distribution list. Inherent V.E. changes to date have resulted in estimated cost avoidances of $6,034,603. Ten (10) Sylvanians are enrolled under company sponsorship in the Creative Value Engineering Course offered by the State University of New York at Buffalo. Team effort is being applied to a LOHAP work project as part of their curriculum. The cost model was updated during this period. Commodity prices were re-evaluated. Value analysis effort with suppliers was accelerated, particularly in the area of mechanical items. (Author)
