STUDY OF METHODS TO IMPROVE HIGH POWER KLYSTRON LIFE AND RELIABILITY.

Abstract

Studies were conducted in the following areas: (1) Filament Studies; All of the bell jar filament and structural studies have been completed. The only tests still being conducted are life tests on the four remaining diodes. If time allows, there will be an additional nine diodes constructed to test the constructional problem areas of the cathode and focus mounting. (2) Window Studies; The window testing has been completed, and the arc generating setup is being used to generate arcs for the arc detector studies. (3) Arc Detector Studies; Work has started on the testing of various solid-state devices and circuits for an improved arc detector. Tests at present indicate that a small solid-state unit is feasible. (Author)
