COMPUTER PROGRAMS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF GAMMA-RAY ANGULAR CORRELATION MEASUREMENTS,

Abstract

This report contains a description and listing of computer programs useful in the analysis of data on intensity-direction correlations of successive radiative transitions from aligned nuclei. A brief discussion of the methods used in extracting energy level spins, population parameters, and multipolarity mixing ratios from intensity-direction correlation measurements is given. The methods provide for simultaneous analysis of angular-distribution and triple-correlation measurements, and can be used for the analysis of double- and triple-correlation measurements where multi-step cascades involving intermediate unobserved transitions occur. The computer programs described are written in FORTRAN IV for use on an IBM 7094(II) computer. The complete program listings are included together with flow charts. Listings of sample input to and output from the programs are given. In addition, a description and listing is given of a program for the calculation of correction factors for finite geometry effects.
