STELLAR COMPOSITION AND NUCLEAR PROCESSES.

Abstract

This research involved studies on the composition of peculiar stars and the interpretation of the results in light of the current, rapidly changing ideas on the evolution of stars and nucleosynthesis. Specific studies included emphasis on hot stars, including those with magnetic fields, on sub-luminous stars, white dwarfs and highly evolved objects. More recent studies involved cooler, red giant stars of strange composition, to study isotope ratios of the metals affected by neutron capture, using molecular bands, and including laboratory studies of certain isotope-enriched compounds that may be found in stars.
