RESIDUAL OILS OF HIGHER VISCOSITY,
Abstract
A new method for the processing of asphalt flux into high-viscosity oils was developed in the process of investigating the intermediate phase removal from an asphalt-elimination assembly. Under the working conditions, the light phase of highly viscous oils in the propane solution was formed due to the temperature difference in the propane feed zone and in the lower part of the extraction tower and to the introduction of fresh solvent under the level of the asphalt phase. The light phase was drained off continuously into the solvent regenerating system, where the convection coil of the tubular heater was installed. The lateral flow was directed through the convestion part of the heater into the propane evaporizer, from which the propane vapors proceeded into a condenser while the residual solvent was steamed in the stripper. Propane and water vapors formed in the upper part of the stripper were let out into the blender, while the highly viscous oil was drained off by a special pump and was purified by phenol. Paraffin elimination was accomplished in two stages.
