RESEARCH ON A TUNNEL LASER.

Abstract

A summary is given of work which proceeded along three principal lines: (1) Theoretical evaluation and prediction of tunnel-laser performance and operating characteristics; (2) measurement and interpretation of photon loss mechanisms in active and passive gallium arsenide; and (3) experimental and theoretical investigation of electroluminescence in tunnel-laser structures utilizing gallium arsenide as the semiconducting and silicon monoxide as the insulating components.
