RESEARCH STUDY INTO THE NEAR EARTH APPLICATION OF MILLIMETER RADIO WAVES AS APPLIED TO CERTAIN BATTLEFIELD PROBLEMS

Abstract

The report describes the design of a 35 GHz solid state source. A unique feature of the source is a linear FM capability of 350 MHz at sweep rates from 5 Hz to greater than 20 kHz. The output power is approximately 50 mW. Frequency stability is derived from an 81 MHz crystal controlled oscillator. Transistor circuitry brings this signal up to 324 MHz at 9 watts. A varactor multiplier chain then is used to achieve the final output frequency.
