MECHANISM OF POLIOVIRUS MULTIPLICATION.

Abstract

Polio virus in HEp 2 cells is inhibited by Actinomycin D but not by Mitomycin C (2-40 micrograms/1,000,000 cells). Study of the mechanism shows inhibition of protein synthesis early in viral synthesis. Early in infection a specific RNA ase, virus dependent, is synthesized. (Author)
