COMPUTATION OF THE RESOLVENT FOR THE AUXILIARY EQUATION OF RADIATIVE TRANSFER,

Abstract

The solution of the auxiliary equation of radiative transfer is written in terms of the resolvent, and an initial-value method for the resolvent is presented. This forms the basis for an effective numerical treatment exploiting the ability of modern computers to integrate a large number of simultaneous ordinary differential equations. Some computational results are given, along with evidence for their validity. (Author)
