MAGNETOELASTIC PARALLEL-PUMP INSTABILITIES FOR GENERALLY DIRECTED WAVES,

Abstract

A general analysis of the longitudinal pumping of magnetoelastic waves near the magnon phonon crossover region has been performed. Variations in the direction of propagation and applied field within the crystal lattice are taken into account and the effects of magnetic, elastic and magnetoelastic anisotropy are included. By considering competition from magnetoelastic waves with propagation directions which are not quite transverse to the applied field the results of parallel pumping experiments may be reconciled with the measurements of magnetoelastic constants performed at lower frequencies by other methods, and high frequency elastic Q factors determined.
