A GUIDE TO CAREERS IN SCIENCE.

Abstract

The booklet has been prepared from lectures given in 1958 by ORO staff members to students working at ORO for the summer. The lectures were designed primarily to give a brief but intensive review of the various scientific career fields; their purpose was to provide high school students with information helpful in making their decisions for future careers in science. The lectures describe with varying amounts of detail such items as the skills and academic preparation required for the profession; the general opportunities offered; the range of possibilities in the field, e.g., laboratory work, travel, field work, illustrated by personal experiences; and finally the rewards, both financial and otherwise, in the chosen career.
