THE VALUE OF MAINTENANCE.

Abstract

The application of management research and electronic data processing equipment to produce an integrated maintenance control system is briefly discussed. A particular application entitled 'CRAM' is reviewed as an example of how the computer has been applied to confirm theoretically-derived and intuitive conclusions that the failure resistance of complex systems and components is not always predictable or improvable by scheduled (time-controlled) maintenance programs.
