WEATHER EFFECTS ON VORTAC FACILITIES VOR MONITOR DETECTOR TESTS.

Abstract

On this phase of the project the effects of various ice and/or snow conditions on four different monitor detectors, with five different detector covers, were investigated to determine action to be taken in the field to eliminate or reduce VOR outages. Tests were conducted at the NAFEC Experimental VORTAC and the NAFEC Environmental Laboratory. Field and laboratory test results are given. (Author)
