INVESTIGATION OF THE FORMULAE FOR COMPUTING THE QUASIGEOID HEIGHTS, THE DEFLECTION OF THE VERTICAL ON THE PHYSICAL SURFACE OF THE EARTH BY THE ASTRONOMIC-GRAVIMETRIC LEVELING, BY THE MODEL METHOD.

Abstract

The model method is adopted in the paper to study the Stokes formula, the Vening Meinesz formula, and the M. S. Molodenskii formula (1949, 1960), and their corresponding astronomic-gravimetric levelling formulas. The model No. 1 and the model No. 2 are used for this study. The model No. 1 has been previously used by E. F. Yeremeyev and I. M. Tiron. The model No. 2 is designed by the authors for the purpose of studying the M. S. Molodenskii formula (1949). The following two problems are discussed: (1) The precision of the various formulas in the same model is compared. (2) The effects of the variation of the ground surface angle of inclination on the precision of the various formulas are compared. Through analyses of the results of computation on the basis of the above two points, conclusions are presented. (Author)
