TRANSVERSE STRAINS DURING DRYING OF 2-INCH PONDEROSA PINE.

Abstract

Quantitative information is given on drying times, strains, and sets as affected by type of wood, EMC reduction pattern, and temperature (80 - 170 F.). Results provide a basis for computation of drying stresses, possible modification of moisture movement theory and kiln schedule modification to control checking in denser pieces of some softwoods.
