A STUDY OF THE FEASIBILITY OF NATIONAL DATA BUOY SYSTEMS. VOLUME I, PART 3, A COST EFFECTIVENESS EVALUATION OF BUOY AND NON-BUOY SYSTEMS TO MEET THE NATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MARINE DATA.
Abstract
The study was initiated by the Panel on Ocean Engineering of the Interagency Committee on Oceanography (ICC) (now the Committee on Marine Research, Education, and Facilities of the National Council on Marine Resources and Engineering Development). It was undertaken under a multiagency-funded contract. Its purpose was to determine the national requirements over the next fifteen years for marine meteorological and oceanographic data that can, on a cost-effective basis, best be acquired by buoy systems, and to develop plans for meeting these data requirements.
