ANNUAL SUMMARY REPORT COVERING PERIOD JANUARY 1, 1967 - DECEMBER 31, 1967,

Abstract

A source of polarized electrons was developed which will be useful for applications in high-energy physics as well as in low-energy atomic physics. A Mott scattering polarization detector, built for the electron-hydrogen scattering experiment, was combined with other available equipment to carry out this experiment on the collisional ionization of polarized metastable deuterium atoms. An experiment on the spin effects in electron-hydrogen scattering is being pursued.
