ON RUBBER-TO-METAL BONDING TECHNIQUES WITH REFERENCE TO COMPLIANT SURFACE BEARINGS,

Abstract

The report discusses the rubber-to-metal bond as formed under vulcanization. It describes the types and nature of the bond along with characteristic strengths. A detailed bonding procedure, based on the experience gained in the compliant-surface bearing study at Columbia, is outlined, intended as guide for the manufacture of compliant surface bearings.
