PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION OF MEASUREMENT OF ELASTIC MODULI OF COMPOSITES USING STRAIN GAGES,

Abstract

The elastic moduli of parallel filament glass fiber reinforced epoxy specimens loaded in pure bending was investigated by comparing strain gage and deflection results. Good agreement was obtained after the ambient temperature creep was minimized. Certain precautions were taken to reduce the thermal effects due to the strain gage current. Also, the stiffening effect of the strain gage was analyzed. (Author)
