ELASTOMERIC POLYETHER GLYCOL-POLYCARBONATE COPOLYMERS.

Abstract

High molecular weight (>400,000) polyether glycol-polycarbonate block copolymers with excellent flexibility at low temperatures were synthesized by the copolycondensation of polyether glycols and 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane with phosgene. The polyether glycol prepolymers were prepared using varying ratios of tetrahydrofuran (THF) ethylene oxide (EO) and incorporating allyl glycidyl ether (AGE) as a source of pendant unsaturation for vulcanization.
