MEASUREMENT OF PRESSURES ON A DELTA WING OSCILLATING IN HEAVE AT A HIGH ANGLE OF INCIDENCE.

Abstract

Previous measurements of leading-edge vortex position on a delta wing oscillating in heave have shown fair agreement with the phase lags predicted theoretically by Randall. In this report measurements of surface pressure are described for the same oscillating wing. The analysis shows that the cyclic phase lag in the pressure variations underneath the vortex field correlates well with a frequency parameter based on the distance back from the wing apex. The agreement with the previous flow observations is good. (Author)
