KITS FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF BACTERIAL ENTEROPATHOGENS.

Abstract

Most small medical units depend upon larger laboratories for definitive identification of bacterial enteropathogens. Often, the time elapsed from sample submission to receipt of the report is two weeks or longer. In an attempt to shorten this time, a simplified kit for the identification of enteropathogens, including Salmonella and Shigella, was prepared and shipped to small medical units in Southeast Asia. This technical report describes the media, antisera and reagents which are included in the kit, as well as tables and charts demonstrating its use. (Author)
