STABILIZABILITY AND OPTIMAL CONTROL.

Abstract

A stability-theoretic proof of the stabilizability of a completely controllable process is given. The stabilizability hypothesis is used to develop the optimal regulator theory of linear systems and is shown to be equivalent to the solvability of Kalman's quadratic generalization of Lyapunov's linear equation.
