CALIBRATION OF THE GALITZIN TYPE, SHORT PERIOD SEISMOGRAPHS OF THE SPANISH SEISMOLOGICAL SURVEY.

Abstract

In this paper has been carried out a theoretic and practical study of the method used in the Spanish Seismological Survey for the calibration of the classic Galitzin type, short period, electro- magnetic seismographs; supposing the reaction of the galvanometer to be negligible, the transference factor is determined by applying the release test. Firstly, the general theory of the electromagnetic seismograph without shunt in its electric circuit is briefly developed, in order to apply it next to the classic Galitzin type, and to the initial conditions of the calibration test.
