PROLEGOMENA TO AN ORGANISMIC THEORY OF QUESTIONS,
Abstract
The paper discusses some considerations preliminary to the formulation of a theory by which machines can be constructed and/or programmed to have a general 'question' capability. There are two types of preliminary considerations, i.e., what can be learned from human question activities and how we can approach the problem of a computable question activity. The first consideration is dealt with in the first part of the report under the heading 'Phenomenological Basis'. The second aspect is the topic of the second part of the report - 'The Active Organism Theory'. There are discussed some logico-metaphysical problems which are basic to constructing an adequate theory. (Author)
