DEFENSE OF NUCLEAR SUBMARINES,

Abstract

The atomic submarine generates physical fields in the surrounding medium which reveal her presence. Ship builders are developing and placing into use special constructional features to weaken these fields to a safe level. They are introducing defensive features directed at enhancing the security and military survivability of the submarine. Foreign ship building gives special attention to reducing noise and weakening the magnetic field of atomic submarines. Major attention is given, too, to enhancing their resistance to explosion pressures.
