THE ACOUSTIC ENVIRONMENT PREDICTED FROM A 50-TON HIGH EXPLOSIVE.

Abstract

The technical note discusses the possibility of detecting at Fort Huachuca a 50-ton surface explosion at White Sands in the month of June. Through the application of ray tracing and semiempirical relations it is shown that a low amplitude signal may be detected in June if the ambient noise conditions at the station were low. Slight departures from the 5-year meteorological averages could allow stronger signals to be recorded at the station. (Author)
