RADIO FREQUENCY NONRECIPROCAL DEVICES.

Abstract

This report covers the design and development of an octave bandwidth radio-frequency isolator. A device has been built which offers 20-db minimum isolation over an octave band, from 7 to 14 MHz, with only 2.5-db insertion loss. 10-db isolation is achieved over a 3 to 1 frequency range. The isolator makes use of Helicon waves in InSb for the nonreciprocal element. These waves have been thoroughly studied, and conditions for their optimum use have been closely met. An RF Helicon circulator is also covered in this report. (Author)
