THE DETERMINATION OF A SCHEDULING RULE FOR A COMPUTING CENTER,

Abstract

The scheduling of computer time is a critical element in providing efficient service to the customers of a computing center. This paper describes the search for a scheduling rule for the computing facility at the Center for Naval Analyses. A queueing model was developed to describe the flow of work through the facility. An event-store Monte Carlo simulation program was written and used to evaluate scheduling rules. (Author)
