SPATIAL RESOLUTION OF EMISSION AND ABSORPTION COEFFICIENTS IN SELF-ABSORBING SOURCES OF CYLINDRICAL SYMMETRY.

Abstract

An iteration technique for obtaining the radial profiles of emission and absorption coefficients in self-absorbing sources of cylindrical symmetry, and a numerical method for applying the techniques to experimental data is given. The iteration technique, involving a series of integrations and Abel inversions, is formally derived, and an IBM 7094 FORTRAN IV program for performing the calculations is listed. (Author)
