INVERSE SCATTERING INVESTIGATION.

Abstract

The problem in question consists of determining means of solving the inverse scattering problem where the transmitted field is given and the received fields are measured, and this data is used to discover the nature of the target. Particular aspects of this overall problem are considered, such as the effect of phase errors upon the determination of the scattering surface, polynomial interpolation of the scattered field measured at a set of discrete points, and the testing of a numerical procedure for finding the surface of a conducting body from the knowledge of the near field. In addition, a review of exact theoretical treatments for the scalar inverse problem is given. (Author)
