ITEM MANAGEMENT FOR SEMIOTIC SYSTEMS,
Abstract
Semiotics, the theory of signs and how they are used, is finding application in the development of machines able to use signs for communication or control. Mechanical devices with this capability are semiotic systems. But the task of explicating such systems requires information management capabilities well beyond any that exist today. This report sets the development of adequate capabilities as an objective and briefly discusses the point of departure taken in work to achieve it. (Author)
