ON THE FIRST EXCITED STATE OF NO(+).

Abstract

The ionization potential of the first excited state of NO(+) was investigated using charge exchange in a double mass spectrometer of perpendicular type. The charge exchange cross section and the recombination energy determinations show good agreement with photoelectron and penning ionization electron spectroscopy values demonstrating again the compatibilities of the results from these methods and the method of charge exchange in a perpendicular-type mass spectrometer. The recombination energy determinations also show that the first excited state of NO(+) is a triplet state. (Author)
