AUDITORY FUNCTION OF THE HEARING IMPAIRED.

Abstract

Activities of the past few months were confined to an analysis of tape recordings supplied by the Contract Monitor. These tapes contain samples of communications recorded in-flight, either in the aircraft itself or in the central tower, in a variety of aircraft and under various operational conditions. The purpose of this analysis was to determine the range and frequency of occurrence of vocabulary items which characterize transmission over a wide range of operational conditions. A secondary, but equally important goal concerns the definition of the quality spectrum of radio transmissions which typify Air Force flight operations. (Author)
