Psychological Factors Related to Tolerance of Confinement, November 1967

Abstract

The report presents the findings of two shelter confinements. Two fifty-one-person groups were separately confined in a fallout shelter for sixty-seven hours each. Several psychological measures were employed in the study, and their applicability to it is discussed. The effect of a trained shelter manager on defections and other in-shelter behavior is also presented.
