Abstract

A quantum-mechanical theory of stimulated resonance Raman scattering by a three-level system which takes into account the effect of the incident and the scattered radiation on the state and the properties of the molecules is developed. A laser synchronization system featuring an FD-1 photodiode is described. The proposed system differs from existing systems, which use photocells or photomultipliers, in that it eliminates the need for complex power supplies, is very compact, and is convenient and reliable in operation.
