SATIRE: THE TECHNICAL LIBRARIAN'S EAM APPLICATION OF SEMI AUTOMATIC TECHNICAL INFORMATION RETRIEVAL,

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to approach the subject of information retrieval from the viewpoint of the librarian. The approach used is based upon the Semi Automatic Technical Information REtrieval System, acronymized SATIRE, which has been used with success for more than a year in the SACCS Department of System Development Corporation. Within this time our normal staff has cataloged over 10,000 documents in machine readable language for use by the SATIRE System. The machine applications mentioned are intended to serve as a milestone to assist in the integration of the subjects; Library Science and Information Retrieval. (Author)
