'ON THE CRYSTAL DEFECTS THAT CAUSE AC ELECTROLUMINESCENCE.'

Abstract

The present Note is intended as a preliminary description of the geometry and, at some extent, also of the conduction properties of a linear shaped, truncated crystal defect that is peculiar of those structures that may exhibit polytypism. The presence of such defects, in the writers opinion, constitutes the cause of the ac Electroluminescence (Destriau effect). On these grounds all the peculiar features of the EL patterns can be interpreted - as well as other aspects of the phenomenon that were, so far, only poorly understood. A brief discussion of these topics is offered. (Author)
