VISUAL DETECTION OF POSITIVE VERSUS NEGATIVE PIPS ON A RADAR PPI.

Abstract

Radar pip visibility thresholds were determined for conventional positive pips, and for 'negative' pips, which were generated by applying a signal to the cathode of a CRT. It was concluded that at optimum phosphor brightness, pip visibility thresholds for positive and for negative pips, on both P7 and P19 phosphors, differ by less than one decibel. (Author)
