THE ANISOTROPY OF THE POLARIZABILITY OF POLYENE SEGMENTS.

Abstract

The calculations of the longitudinal polarizabilities of polyenes are extended using a free-electron and Huckel-molecular orbital model in an effort to be able to predict the dependence of the birefringence of such molecules upon their orientation. (Author)
