SINGLE FREQUENCY F SUB 1, F SUB 1 REPEATER

Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine the feasibility of new technical concepts inherent in the design of F sub 1, F sub 1 repeaters. This technical report covers two novel versions of small F sub 1, F sub 1 radio repeaters designed for use with FM tactical transceivers. Both developmental models are linear, single frequency repeaters (F sub 1, F sub 1), one is high gain (50 db); the other wide-band (500 kHz). The design of these repeaters utilizes the concepts of hybrid isolation and precise antenna matching. The results indicate that true F sub 1, F sub 1 radio repeaters are feasible. Included are detailed discussions of: F sub 1, F sub 1 repeater concept; antenna matching and broadbanding techniques; hybrid isolation; amplifier and filter development; tests and evaluation; miniaturization; future trends and goals.
