PHOTOELASTIC DETECTION OF ULTRASONIC PULSES.

Abstract

An experiment is designed which has the potential to allow a visual detection of progressive ultrasonic pulsed vibrations in transparent media. Various materials, solid and liquid, are employed and the results of each investigation are presented. Difficulties encountered are discussed, and suggestions for improvements are offered. (Author)
